An Interview with Cynthia Scott:

VV: How long have you been a TIR trainer?

Cynthia: I became a TIR trainer in May 2012.

VV: What inspired you to become a TIR trainer?

Cynthia: I know the benefits of TIR and wanted to make it available to more people. I can only see a limited number of clients myself, but by being a trainer, I can train groups of people who can then go on to help many others around them.

VV: What do you find rewarding about it?

Cynthia: It is very rewarding to see those who have taken the training experience great results themselves during the practice sessions at the workshops. It is also inspiring to observe them as they realize how many more people they can really help with these techniques. Whether they are in a counseling profession or as laypeople, they can go on to make a big difference in their client’s lives.

VV: Are you willing to travel to deliver training, if so under what conditions?

Cynthia: Yes, I enjoying traveling and delivering the workshops; doing them together is just great!

VV: Do you have a private practice?

Cynthia: Yes, I do.

VV: Besides TIR, what other things are you interested in?

Cynthia: My husband and I own Fresh Air Dogs, which provides training, daycare and in-home lodging for dogs. I also enjoy organizing Women’s Retreats and spending time at our camp on a lake in Maine.

VV: Describe your professional background?

Cynthia: I have worked in administrative roles in a manufacturing company and two hospitals and served as the Executive Director of a volunteer hospice. I studied Business Administration and Social Services at the University of Maine.

VV: What other courses are you currently teaching?

Cynthia: Besides the first level TIR Workshop, I teach TIR Expanded Applications and Life Stress Reduction Techniques and Case Planning. Over the years, I have led workshops pertaining to Communication Skills and Management Training. I also train people in my community to become Bereavement Facilitators.
