Rev. Jan J.F. Viljoen

An Interview with Rev. Jan J.F. Viljoen:

VV: How long have you been a TIR trainer?

Jan: Since 2013

VV: What inspired you to become a TIR trainer?

Jan: I was preparing for a second career after retirement from the military. Yvonne Retief’s book “Healing of Trauma in a South African Context” was prescribed in a UNISA Trauma Course. Yvonne gave a description of TIR. I attended a workshop and was immediately hooked. I was also motivated by Rev. Louis Hough.

VV: What do you find rewarding about it?

Jan:TIR empowered me to help people resolving their trauma. I would like to equip as many counsellors possible with TIR workshops.

VV: Are you willing to travel to deliver training, if so under what conditions?

Jan: Yes, I will travel as long as my travelling & accommodation costs are covered.

VV: Do you have a private practice?

Jan:Yes. I am registered as a counsellor at the Council for Counsellors of South Africa (CCSA). My practice is in Pretoria.

VV: Besides TIR, what other things are you interested in?

Jan:I have an interest in Transactional Analysis. I am involved in creative writing (radio drama, sketches etc.)

VV: Describe your professional background?

Jan:I am a retired Military Chaplain. I served eleven years on the border with Zimbabwe in the military zone and six years in a Military Hospital where I ended my military career as Head of the Pastoral Services.

VV: Are there other TIR/Applied Metapsychology Courses you are currently teaching?

Jan:No. But I do apply the TIR (EA) and LSR techniques that I have learned.
